Emily's Blog- Getting Started #1

Hello, my name is Emily Lopez. I live and work in Santa Rosa. I am married and have a daughter named Lylia, who is five; and I am currently 6 months pregnant with another little girl. I work at Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation as a patient service representative. I have worked there for a little over a year.
My educational goal is to finish all of my prerequisites and transfer to a four year college and earn a Bachelor's degree, I would like to become a Trauma Nurse. I have had this goal for sometime now, but I am determined to complete my goal and be successful in life.
In this class, I am hoping to become a better writer, I love to write, but sometimes I cannot fit my words into the correct sentences. I would also like to learn correct punctuation. I like to get my work done early if I can, if its not done I feel that its hanging over my head. I like to pace myself in almost everything that I do, I know that sometimes its not possible with life being so busy, but I try to make things as less stressful as I can.
A few things that the class should know about me is that I love English, I like to free write, I am excited to have the opportunity to take this English class online. As I said before I am 6 months pregnant, so I will be giving birth while enrolled in this class, I wanted to be able to still take a class during my pregnancy so that I would not fall behind in my prerequisites. I also love to just hang with my family and friends, watch sports and chill when I can.

Thanks for taking the time to read a little about me. I look forward to chatting with everyone!

Emily L.

  1. Emily,
First off, I want to say congratulations on your new baby girl on the way. I just had my baby December 12th, which is one of the reasons I chose to take online classes this semester. I used to love to write when I was a teenager, except for essays. I loved to write stories and poems on my own time, with no rules. I wish you luck in your pregnancy and in accomplishing your goals with school.

  2. Congrats on your soon-to-be addition. There's nothing like a new baby in the house! I think taking online classes during pregnancy is a GREAT way to keep going without falling behind. I took some online classes when I was pregnant with my last baby and because he's not in daycare yet (the JC has a AWESOME program), I'm doing as much online as possible and night classes so my husband can stay with the kids.
I like to write too, but just like you, am unable to get the words together for them to stay in content to make any sense at all. I'm still trying to figure out when to use one of ; <--these????
Good Luck with your pregnancy and this semester!

  4. NIce, interesting. I'm doing the emt/paramedic thing so we kind of have similar work focus haha. I might want to go to the ER after I become a paramedic but you seem like you got a lot going for you, good luck with everything.

  5. First of all, congratulations on your soon to be born baby girl! I see that you work at Sutter, you probably know my mom, her name is Ellie. She is a Medical Assistant but works as a "float." Any way, I wish you much luck this semester and feel free to message me any time if you need assistance.

  7. Hi Emily,

I took classes while pregnant too, only my program didn't offer online courses. I had to take night classes, which was no fun. I'm glad you're able to do your work from the comfort of home.

You must be excited to see your baby girl. At 6 months, I remember being ready and anxious.

I'm hoping this course taps into your excitment for English.

    Take care,
    Lauren

  9. Hello Emily ! I am glad to hear that your daughter’s name is going to be Natalia; I have met a couple of Natalia’s before I moved from Mexico, but never in America. I admire your determination to go to school even though you have so many things going on in your life right now!
Don’t give up, it will be all worth it at the end!
